Analysis of Management subject Code 17 of UGC NET held on 04 Dec 2019

The UGC NET for Management (Code 17) was conducted in the second half of 04 Dec 2019. The difficulty level of the paper was average. 

 

Before anything else, let us look at the Cut off in last 2 exams. The cut off in June 2019 and Dec 2018 were, as below:

 

Cut off in Jun 2019 

Unreserved: 68% (JRF) and 60% (NET)

OBC: 63% (JRF) and 53% (NET)

SC: 61% (JRF) and 50% (NET)

ST: 62% (JRF) and 49% (NET)


Cut off in Dec 2018 

Unreserved: 62% (JRF) and 54% (NET)

OBC: 58% (JRF) and 49% (NET)

SC: 55% (JRF) and 47% (NET)

ST: 54% (JRF) and 46% (NET)

 

This time, the cut off is likely to remain same. For JRF you can expect cut off to be around 68% and for NET you need around 60%.

 

After every NET exam, we at Human Peritus, analyse, how many questions appeared from Study Material Package of Human Peritus. During Dec 2019 exam, 87 out of 100 Questions were covered in Package of Human Peritus. Yes, if someone would have studied only from Human Peritus Package (and nothing else, no other book, no previous paper), She/he would have easily scored above 87% in Dec 19 exam of Commerce subject. This “question by question analysis” for 04 Dec exam is available at the bottom of this page. This number was 82% in June 2019, 90% in Dec 2018 and 78% in July 2018. Overall Summary- Our Advice for Dec 2020 students

On social media, we hear so many gurus saying with confidence that “1 question comes from XXX topic”. Please note that, there are no such trends. If you want to have 100% confidence of cracking UGC NET, you have to stick to these 2 rules. 

Rule 1 : Go through every keyword of syllabus.

Rule 2: Treat every keyword of syllabus with equal respect. Nothing is less important. 

   

Highlights of Management subject Code 17 Paper held on 04 Dec 2019 are:

1. Earlier UGC NET in Management was about learning few keywords only. Now the approach is changing and you need to understand the concepts. There were 10 RC based questions, which were on “application of concepts”.

2. Another example is using Ansoff fmatrix or Merger and Acquisition.

3. In every exam you will find 5-6 questions, which hardly anyone can answer, For example, examples  of companies names with Merger, Continuous Compounding etc. These questions should not scare you

4. Question on SCO, Shanghai Cooperation Organization was definitely out of syllabus. 

5. Largest Coverage was from HRM and OB  topics.

6. Some Questions on new terms like Hubris Hypothesis, Novation, 2/10 net 30.

7. Pretty easy & straight forward questions from Operation Management (considered to be tough subject) like Queuing theory, CPM, Locational Analysis, ERP, Kaizen.

8. Question in FM were from NI Approach assumptions, Portfolio Analysis, CAPM.

9. Overall the pattern is shifting towards “understanding of concept”, rather than just “remebering keywords“. Thus it is becoming like UPSC and other tougher exams in terms of question pattern and concept testing.   

 

The paper was “predictable” and more than 85% questions were from Human Peritus package.
