The application process starts from 07 Jan 2025 and the last date is 06 Feb 2025. There are total of 59 vacancies for Staff and Welfare Inspector with Railways. Eligibility of Staff and Welfare Inspector

The eligibility for “Staff and Welfare Inspector” is MBA or PG Diploma in Labour Welfare/Social Welfare/Labour Laws/Personnel Management. Upper age limit is 33 Years. There is age relaxation for OBC-non creamy, SC/ST/PwBD etc.

Selection Process

Since there is no interview, only score of written exam will decide the selection. 

The exam will be online (CBT) and will have 100 questions to be solved on 90 minutes.

There is negative marking with deduction of one-third for every wrong answer. Each question carries 1 marks with total of 100 marks.

Syllabus of Staff and Welfare Inspector exam

The Paper will have 5 sections:

Section 1: Professional Ability- 50 Questions

Section 2: General Awareness- 15 Question

Section 3: General Intelligence and Reasoning- 15 Questions

Section 4: Mathematics- 10 Questions

Section 5: General Science- 10 Questions

TOTAL- 100 Questions

 

The Syllabus of each section for exam of Staff and Welfare Inspector is given below:

Section 1: Professional Ability- 50 Questions

  1. Industrial Relations: Industrial Disputes Act, 1947; Indian Trade Union Act, 1926; Industrial Employment [Standing Orders] Act.
  2. Social Security Legislation: Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923; Employees’ Provident Fund Act, 1952; Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948; The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
  3. Law relating to wages: The Minimum Wages Act, 1948; Payment of Wages Act, 1936; The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965; Payment of Gratuity Act.
  4. Legislation affecting Conditions of work: Indian Factories Act, 1948; The Mines Act, 1952.
  5. Basics of Computers and applications: Input & output devices; MS Office
  6. Right To Information Act – provisions thereof
  7. New Pension Scheme.

Section 2: General Awareness- 15 Question

Knowledge of Current Affairs, Indian Geography, Culture and History of India including freedom movement, Indian Polity and Constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.

Section 3: General Intelligence and Reasoning- 15 Questions

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement- Arguments and Assumptions etc.

Section 4: Mathematics- 10 Questions

Number Systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportions, Percentage, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.

Section 5: General Science- 10 Questions

Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus).
